How To Reinvent Yourself by Changing Your Self-beliefs
and Thoughts
By David Stanley Bell
We Create Our Reality With Our Thoughts
We are co-creators with God, we manifest with the
power of spirit that flows through all of us. We create
our world with our thoughts. This is the way of
creation. Unfortunately, many people do not understand
that they have this power. Those who are unaware of this
power to create via our thoughts still create, only instead
of creating what they want, they creat (manifest) the
things they don't want and through fear, and achieve through
a much less efficient force-of-will process. This is called
"creating unconsciously". This process takes
a lot of energy, taxes the body, and puts our lives out
of a healthy balance.
So much of spiritual growth is a result of thought awareness
and perception management. I had to learn these things the
hard way. I spent years sabotaging my own happiness and
success.
What We Focus on, We Attract
Worrying is a dangerous practice. It is the metaphysical
equivalent of a voodoo doll. When we worry about the wellbeing
of a loved one, we invent in our minds various scenarios
that would make them unhappy, sick or injured, and these
thoughts are like the needles in the doll, which actually
help to create the situations we fear. The Law of Attraction
states that What we focus on, we attract into our realities.
So, when we understand that the worrying negative
thoughts will only create the thing you fear, then we also
understand that we can choose to focus instead on positive
thoughts and outcomes instead.
Thoughts come in constant never-ending streams. Thoughts
never stop. Ever tried emptying your mind of thought?
The trick is to be aware of these thoughts and allow them
to pass by the same way you watch clouds go by. Simply
observe them, objectively. When a negative thought
appears, let it pass by, then choose a positive thought
instead, and focus on that. The best thing we can
do is just release the thought and instead think of our
loved one in happy and successful scenarios, or just imagine
them in white light.
When I was going through a difficult time and it caused
me great pain to think of a girlfriend that was no longer
in my life, I discovered that it took only 3 to 5 seconds
of thinking about my sadness to bring my life energy down.
When I caught myself thinking these thoughts and released
them in less than 5 seconds, the thought had no effect on
me. This time maybe different for each person but it was
amazing the power of a few seconds of thought. So how many
seconds of positive thinking or no thinking meditation is
needed to make good things happen? For me, in as little
as 10 seconds, I can feel my energy uplift and a sense of
clarity wash upon me. In this state, we are the most effective
in living life in the moment. So we all need to be aware
of the power of our own thoughts, and drive our vehicle
of life without having one foot on the gas and the other
on the brake. Then we can go places.
Our Masks & Gloves Are Our Imprisoners
We all wear "masks" which are a tool to hide
our true selves from others (and even from ourselves when
we look in the mirror). These masks are created out of fear
of what others think of us, and are a reflection of our
perception that we are "not good enough".
However, in using these masks, which hide who we really
are, we create barriers for ourselves, and we become prisoners
to the false personas we project. I like to think of our
barriers as gloves, because gloves block our ability to
touch what is real, which distorts the perception of what
is real. These barriers do not allow others to know the
true you, and does not allow you to be free to be your authentic
self.
The Glove of Obsession with Drama: I think the most popular glove that is worn is our
obsessions. Obsessions with drama to distract us from the
real work that needs to be done. Some of our most popular
obsessions are the obsession with what other people think
of us, and the obsession with physical health and long life.
For the first obsession, I recommend the book "What
you Think of Me is None of My Business" by Terry Cole-Whittaker.
The Glove of Obsession with the Physical Body: As for the second, our physical health follows from
our mental, emotional and spiritual health. To only focus
on the body is to put two bricks in the wall and then knock
them back out again. We need to seek the things that bring
us peace, bring us joy, bring us clarity and simplicity,
and health and energy will flow through us.
Accepting & Living Who We Are
Peace and happiness come as a result of living authentically
- acceptance of yourself, without judgement. Acceptance
of others, without judgement. Allowing yourself and
others to be who they are and who you are. Removing
our masks can seem daunting at first, but is extremely liberating.
And the more you do it, the easier it becomes. By
doing this, you make room in your life for peace and happiness.
It is that simple. Simplicity is to accept
things as they are, no more, no less.
These things I have learned on my path and I hope they
can help you to live with more joy and passion.
