Animal Instincts
By David Stanley Bell

was it the starlight
sparkling in your eyes
or the soft moonlight
bathing the curves of your breasts?
that transformed me
to the thunder of the distant storm
the smoldering embers
of smoky sage
i burned like a raging fire
lightening strikes beneath my flesh
i became the coyote’s howl
the primal drum beats
i stalked you with desire
hunted you with passion
and covered your flesh
like the showers of a summer storm
my lips seeking the pleasure
of every inch of your flesh
my tongue followed the curves
and folds of you
and I plunged deep inside you
deeper and deeper i consumed your breath
flowed in your raging waters
in the timelessness
endlessness of you
we both cried to mystic skies for release
i painted my design upon you
with the surges of my heart
we both tasted
devoured
our animal instincts
