Friend I Need
By David Stanley Bell

I abused you with my neglect
shuffled every priority
until you didn’t count
self absorbed
perpetuating my pain
I always needed you
but you waited
until I dropped my guard and let you in
and you were there
like the sun flooding a room with brilliance
when I finally opened the blinds
Your love, care, support
saved my life again
Forgive me my friend
love me my friend
and if I evey shut you out again
and you walked away
I would understand
but I am so grateful
that you stay
and you are here with me
