It Must Be So
By David Stanley Bell

light
sunrise to
tinted glass
of darkness
turn away
fall asleep
to high definition
numbing haze
i saw it TV
then it must be so?

whisper
a voice within?
turn up the radio
to bone jarring bass
the comfort
of familiar pain
i heard it in a song
then it must be so?

time
to realize
we worship the flesh
deify the package
ignore within
elective surgical
blockage to the soul
location, location, location
you're where you started
i read it in a magazine
then it must be so?

perception
tunnel to the stars
black holes of
celebrity illusion
paid
to be exempt
from what is real
and yet we follow
i heard it from a friend
then it must be so?

life
learn it
'til we get it
or today's ordeals
tomorrow's deja vu
so may gurus
selling their truth
but it is not my own
i felt it in my heart
then it must be so
