Spring Forward
By David Stanley Bell

drink
deep the winter rains
feast you eyes
hills alive in wild color
branches thrive with life
breathe deep
the sweet fragrance
listen
playful songs of baby birds
answered by wind chimes
tickled in warm breezes

it's time to wake up
and experience a new time
a new joy
new life all around
no need to hide from winter's chill
come forth
explore the beauty all around

wake up
spread your wings
even though they bear scars
or may still be broken
have faith
you don’t really need wings to fly

it is in this awakening
that we discover how alive we are
and once a witness
to the sensual splendor
we may fear to lose it
of have it stripped away
but just as the sun
surrenders to the moon and stars
it rises again
defeating darkness

when we no longer fear
the cold and dark
or the warm and light
we sing in harmony
with the orchestra of life
so wake up
sing
love
and live
